One Day Course

The Light Rigid (LR) Licence training course is ideal for people who want to join the NSW Ambulance Service, drive school minibuses, community buses, motorhomes or light courier trucks.
We have automatic training vehicles available at Arndell Park (Western Sydney) with courses offered seven days a week.

The Light Rigid (LR) Licence allows the holder to drive:

Any rigid motor vehicle with a GVM of more than 4.5 tonnes but not more than 8 tonnes.
Any vehicle of less than 8 tonnes GVM which has more than 12 seats (including the driver) eg Toyota Commuter, Toyota Coaster, Mitsubishi Rosa.
You may tow a trailer if your vehicle has an appropriate tow ball/bar but the trailer must not weigh more than 9 tonnes GVM.

  1. PASS THE LIGHT RIGID KNOWLEDGE TEST AT YOUR LOCAL MOTOR REGISTRY OR SERVICE NSW *PRACTICE THE TEST HERE* RMS FEE $52.
  2. PASS THE EYESIGHT TEST AND PURCHASE YOUR HVCBA LEARNERS LOGBOOK CLASS LR. RMS FEE $30.
  3. PHONE ABC DRIVING SCHOOL (ARNDELL PARK) 96761113 TO BOOK A DATE FOR YOUR LR LICENCE COURSE.
  4. ATTEND AND SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE YOUR TRAINING COURSE. YOUR ASSESSOR WILL GIVE YOU A CERTIFICATE OF COMPETENCE.
  5. RETURN TO THE MOTOR REGISTRY, HAND IN YOUR CERTIFICATE AND APPLY FOR YOUR UPGRADED LICENCE. (NOTE YOU WILL BE GIVEN AN INTERIM LICENCE WHILE YOUR PLASTIC CARD IS PROCESSED. (SEE RMS WEBSITE FOR DETAILS) RMS FEE $31.
