MR (Medium Rigid)

A Medium Rigid Licence Course is ideal for people who want to be bus drivers or work in the local medium haulage or courier type work.

We have both manual (5-speed synchromesh) and automatic transmission available. (*Automatic is available at Arndell Park only)

You will require a Medium Rigid (MR) Licence if you want to drive a truck with the conditions listed below:

  • Any rigid motor vehicle with a GVM of more than 8 tonnes.
  • Any towed trailer must not weigh more than 9 tonnes GVM.
  • Number of Axles – 2 only (please remember this is axles not wheels)

Please note that licences acquired using vehicles that are fitted with a Synchromesh or Automatic gearbox will be endorsed with a "condition B" restriction - (may only drive Automatic or Synchromesh gearbox). THIS IS NORMAL FOR AN MR OR LR LICENCE HOLDER. It will not restrict or limit your ability to drive MR, LR or class C vehicles, nor will it limit your employment options.
